When Chile’s Puyehue volcano began to erupt over the weekend, the skies  filled with dramatic plumes of ash. Wind pushed the massive ash cloud  across the the Andes, blanketing parts of neighboring Argentina… but  when the wind changing direction, the ash blew back to Chile. The  eruption also produced a column of gas six miles high — and some  jaw-droppingly beautiful scenes in the sky.  It was the first time  Puyehue Volcano had erupted in 50 years and the government ordered  thousands of residents to leave the area.
